The Mac is back... to Apple
Sigh... UPS just came around to take my MacBook back to Apple - again. I do hope they fix everything this time around - the discolouration, the poorly fitted replacement top-case, the chip they caused in the polycarbonate and so on. I don't have particularly high hopes, but at least they are trying to do something about the whole mess. It does mean that I am back on my beloved iBook for a few days, but I do miss the lovely keyboard of my MacBook, not to mention the glossy screen. (A lot of people were very upset that the MacBook had a glossy screen, but I actually prefer it.)

Sorry to hear about your MacBook. Just wanted to let you know I downloaded Scrivener yesterday and it's amazing. Thanks for such a wonderfully creative and intuitive piece of software (and best of luck as you shop it around in the future).
ReplyDeleteI'll try to get you some feedback as I have it...it's all too much fun right now.
Thanks for the kind words about Scrivener - I'm glad you like it. The next version should be a big improvement (I hope).
ReplyDeleteSorry about your problems, but I do appreciate your talking about them. Apple's shoot-foot-repeatedly-and-reload idiocies with the MacBook are why I remain on my beloved iBook. We'd hardly know, though, from all the reflexive praise in the commercial press, so again, thanks.
ReplyDeleteDid you get the Mac Back yet? How'd Apple do this time around? I'm sorry to hear about your problems. That's lame. Just make sure you have the AppleCare and 2 1/2 years from now you'll be loving your MacBook and will have hopefully forgotten all about the rough start.
ReplyDeleteI received my MacBook back yesterday, and I have to say that I impressed by the approach AppleCare have taken. They not only replaced the screen bezel and the (replacement) top case, which were discolouring, and ensured that the top case was fitted properly this time, but they also completely replaced the polycarbonate bottom case that they had chipped last time. So now my MacBook looks brand new again, which makes me happy. I suspect that everything will begin to discolour again in a week or two, but at least they are doing their best to fix my issues. I'll definitely be forking out for the extended AppleCare warranty - and it's good to know that AppleCare is a worthwhile service before doing so.
